The Ten of Wands and the Ace of Wands are at the opposite end of the Suite, yet they are tied to each other as they connect one evolutionary cycle to the next. Thus, the Ten of Wands from one cycle blends into the Ace of the following cycle.
In today’s reading, the cards appear in reversed order, meaning that instead of a progression, we are going through a regression. Expressed in a less sophisticated manner, we are going backwards.
Both cards embody the Fire element, dealing intuitively with primary matters: food, shelter and sex.
However, the energies of the two cards are sensibly different.
The Ten of Wands blends Cardinal with Mutable, while the Ace of Wands is Fixed with Cardinal.
The Mutable nature of where it is happening, in the case of the Ten of Wands, makes the outcome unpredictable.
The reversed nature of the Ace of Wands adds an extra sense of going backwards.
While the Ten of Wands represents a spontaneous development of things, the Ace of Wands requires voluntary action. Yet, being reversed, the Ace of Wands also represents a reaction to an external stimulus or manifestation.
The two cards provide the necessary context.
The Six of Swords represents the projected possible future.
It is quite a complex card. On the one hand, it represents a critical decision to make a radical change – at least mentally, considering the Air nature of the card.
On the other hand, it embodies all the pains of cutting ties with a familiar situation and stepping into the unknown.
Another challenge regarding the Six of Swords is to identify those thoughts that hold you down and leave them behind – get rid of them. Being creatures of habit, it is more difficult than it seems.
