“Desire is the kind of thing that eats you and leaves you starving.”
Nayyirah Waheed
– What should you focus on today?
– Should you follow your gut feeling?
In life, there are two kinds of things: the things we want and the things we need.
The modern world is based on generating and cultivating desires. We want things we do not need. That is the cornerstone of the consumer society.
Oddy enough, the more you have, the less satisfied you are and want more.
I recently read that more than half of the food bought in the Western world is thrown away.
Meanwhile, half of the world is hungry.
The world provides us with enough resources for everyone to have a decent life, yet some have too much while others struggle to make ends meet.
Some would expect that so-called spiritual communities are different. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Being educated does not make somebody a better person.
Being spiritual requires a specific discipline that is not suitable and endurable for everyone.
For example, I met many people who considered themselves Christians but who did not understand the teachings attributed to Jesus and did not live by those norms. Being a true Christian is not easy and accessible for everyone. Celebrating Easter and Christmas, going to church every Sunday, and not even praying every day makes someone a Christian.
Esotericism is perhaps even more challenging.
Some of the requirements are outlined in my writing about Temperance: https://www.patreon.com/posts/115460942 However, that is only the top of the iceberg.
Today’s cards require temperance.
The Page of Cups is an invitation to remember your true self and genuine needs, while the reversed Six of Wands embodies all the temptations of the modern world.
The reversed Two of Swords presents you with the dilemma: which path should you follow?
As always, the cards reveal the circumstances and, eventually, the alternatives.
The choices belong to you, and you are the only one who can make something happen. Anything.

On Saturday, you should rest.
Thus, the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. By the seventh day, God had finished the work he had been doing, so on the seventh day, he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done. (Genesis 2:1-3)
Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days, you shall labour and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it, you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. (Exodus 20:8-11)
