Five of Wands – Page of Disks rev. – Moon
Authority – Criticism – Partnership
Card of the day: Page of Disks rev.
Timing:
August 23 to September 22.
6 PM to 8 AM.
Spiritual advice: “Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind” is a proverb that means actions have consequences. If you engage in foolish or harmful behaviour, you will face serious repercussions. This phrase originates from the Bible, specifically Hosea 8:7, warning that negative actions lead to disastrous outcomes.
Practical advice: Better make friends than make more enemies.
“To say you have no choice is to relieve yourself of responsibility.”
Patrick Ness
– What should you focus on today?
– Is the criticism constructive or destructive?
The recurring Five of Wands and the reversed Page of Disks indicate an ongoing, most likely escalating conflict. Can this annoying matter be resolved?
According to the Moon card, mediation is possible, and an agreement can be reached.
These daily three-card readings often go far beyond interpreting some Tarot cards.
Today’s card gives me an excellent opportunity to discuss cultivation a bit.
Thomas Sowell stated that education is not merely neglected in many of our schools today, but is largely replaced by ideological indoctrination. It’s a process I have called “cultivation.” Like vegetables, we are cultivated to feel, think, believe, and act in predefined ways. Cultivation is more sophisticated and runs even deeper than “ordinary” indoctrination.
For example, the consumer society would not have been possible without a pre-built and trained consumer.
I’ve told this before: over three decades, I bought about thirty Tarot decks to study them. These decks include Crowley’s Thoth, the Etteilla deck, the Sola-Busca deck, a version of the Marseille pattern, and other decks that, for one reason or another, drew my attention.
I worked with the Rider-Waite deck for a long period because it was my first and only deck, and I did not have access to any other Tarot deck. As I gradually discovered the flaws of the Rider-Waite deck, I started developing my deck, and once the Unified Esoteric Tarot had come to light, it had become my only working deck.
There’s nothing wrong with being a collector as long as you don’t mistake the esoteric decks for the commercial releases. You can’t buy a bicycle and expect it to get you to the Moon. Collectables, on the other hand, are investments. I’m happy with the fact that the Tarot has become an object of commercialisation. Absolutely not, but there is nothing I can do about it except be aware and deal with it accordingly.
We have been conditioned – cultivated – to feed our desires rather than satisfy our needs.
Coming back to our cards today, something else grabbed my attention.
The root of most of our conflicts is how we have been cultivated.
One of these poisonous seeds meticulously planted in our subconscious is competitiveness.
The only valid competition is the one with ourselves. All other relationships we have should be built in a spirit of collaboration, not rivalry.
Instead of constantly focusing on what divides us, we should look for common ground and build on it. Collaboration is the only way for our individual and collective development. However, we have been cultivated to compete and destroy our own and each other’s progress.
The Moon card today is a reminder that only through cooperation can we have a better future and grow.
