Two of Swords, Ten of Swords, and Lover
Diplomacy – Accumulation – Decision
Card of the day: Ten of Swords
“Everything that occurs is an accumulation of what you have knowingly or unknowingly set in motion.”
Steven Redhead
Should we be afraid of the Ten of Swords?
The Ten of Swords is more often associated with death than the Death card.
However, the frightening and gloomy perceptions are misinterpretations caused by Arthur Edward Waite and Pamela Colman Smith. Thanks to them and the subsequent efforts of Stuart R. Kaplan, an erroneous depiction and interpretation of the cards has been standardised.
A. E. Waite was a devoted Christian who was contemptuous of divination. He wrote about most occult matters under various pseudonyms. He wrote about cartomancy and Tarot divination using the alias Grand Orient and published in 1909 the book called A Manual of Cartomancy.
It is not clear to me why he used his own name to publish the Tarot pack. I only suspect it was an explicit requirement of the Rider publishing house.
