We have a quite powerful trio of cards for today.
Two planetary cards and one Zodiac card.
Mercury and Venus, two Air planets visiting two Earth signs, Virgo and Capricorn, respectively. The third card embodies Taurus, which is the third Earth sign featured in today’s reading.
Earth represents the highest manifestation of the elements.
Unlike the traditional point of view in which Fire is the highest manifestation, the Unified Esoteric System proposes a different approach.
Fire is the first spark of life. It represents desire and the first manifestation of consciousness.
Water represents emotions, and it is a superior development of the desire.
Air represents thoughts, transforming emotions into ideas.
Finally, the highest manifestation is Earth, representing the materialisation of the ideas.
The entire alchemical process is bringing the desire into being.
Esoteric is an independent, alternative path to study and explain the world and its mysteries.
However, over time, these teachings have been exposed to various external influences. Judaism, Christianity, Neo-Platonism and pseudo-Hermeticism all impacted and altered the original teachings.
The challenge of any esoteric system and ancient knowledge is its preservation and transmission without alteration. Gurdjieff mentioned “legomonism” as one of the clever methods of preserving vital information within apparently ordinary objects, such as customs, mythology, or folklore.
“Dear, beloved Grandfather, tell me, please, what does the word ‘legomonism’ mean? Asked Hassein.
Legomonism, Beelzebub replied, is the name given to one of the means used, therefore transmitting from generation to generation information about certain events of long-past ages through those three-brained beings who have become worthy of being, and of being called, initiates.”
The transmission of the information was not exclusively of oral nature. The initiates may be aware that words can change their meaning, and information can be miscommunicated, misinterpreted, or mistranslated due to human errors or intentional actions.
Therefore, essential information was embedded within different traditions and objects to be transmitted without interference and alteration. Gurdjieff mentioned art, referring to music, sculptures, paintings, dances, ancient architecture, and patterns of popular costumes as possible vehicles for hidden esoteric knowledge.
Fortunately, the deck of cards and the Tarot deck, exceptionally, have preserved the unaltered principles of the esoteric teachings.
Now, let’s deal with today’s reading.
The past card, the Lover, indicates a critical decision.
Unlike the traditional interpretation, the Lover represents a rational choice over a practical matter. Depending on the question and the surrounding cards, it can relate to relationships, but not necessarily so.
According to the Judgement card, the decision will now be evaluated.
Typically, the Judgement card represents an external evaluation, but occasionally, it may also refer to self-evaluation.
Finally, the reversed Empress suggest that you will stand firmly by your decision.
Whether this is a wise choice or not, only time will tell.
