– What should you focus on today?
– Is failure ever an option?
Today’s cards differ greatly from yesterday’s.
Perhaps these cards are a perfect example of how your decisions can affect future developments.
Disobedience can sometimes lead to failure.
Quite often, I emphasised that the greatest breakthroughs come from taking the untravelled path rather than the well-trodden road.
However, originality and boldness are not always celebrated and rewarded. On the contrary, when someone steps outside the lines of convenience, they are excluded, shamed, or even punished. After all, instead of a new Renaissance, we established the Age of cancel culture.
Another painful truth of life is that if something can go wrong, it probably will.
So, the cliché question: what’s in the cards?
Disobedience led to failure, but that will give way to rebirth.
However, there is another hidden – esoteric – dimension to reading the cards.
Gurdjieff, quoting from an unpublished book of aphorisms, said:
“A man may be born, but in order to be born he must first die, and in order to die he must first awake.”
According to Gurdjieff, ‘to awake,’ ‘to die,’ ‘to be born’ are three successive stages. While the Gospels contain many scattered references to them, they lack a coherent narrative.
Allegorically, today’s cards reflect this exact succession.
The reversed Queen of Swords symbolises the awakening, the reversed Ace of Disks figuratively represents death, while the Little Death card embodies rebirth, respectively, ‘to be born’ spiritually.
Gurdjieff said, “To awaken means to realise one’s nothingness, that is to realise one’s complete and absolute mechanicalness and one’s complete and absolute helplessness.”
Dying, Gurdjieff noted, is the way to “free himself from a thousand petty attachments and identifications which hold him in the position in which he is.”
Being born, Gurdjieff concluded, “relates to the beginning of a new growth of essence, the beginning of the formation of individuality, the beginning of the appearance of one indivisible I.”
