Three Is in a row: intolerance, inflexibility and initiation.
Unlike yesterday, today, two negatives result in one positive. The laws of nature apply to everybody.
Life sometimes compensates for inequalities or errors. There is an invisible, natural balance that governs the world, making life bearable. True, it does not always work, and the world often is a stage of cruelty and horrors, but overall, there is some kind of justice and balance.
It’s my personal observation that we often struggle to make better choices and act according to bad habits and wrong patterns.
In that matter, the Tarot should be quite an efficient instrument for self-observation and learning.
However, are we willing to learn and develop?
The resistance to change and the attachment to familiar patterns and habits make evolution unappealing. Humans are cultivated to be slaves from the very beginning.
One hardly can awake on its own, and even if it does, it falls back to sleep quickly.
You need to receive the light of knowledge from someone, and then you have to guard and preserve it.
The world is full of false light-bringers who will only further blind you.
In these circumstances, the reversed Four of Swords and the reversed Five of Disks, one signifying intolerance and the other inflexibility, the Page of Swords is a ray of light through the darkness.
However, it is not an easy way out – there are no free get-out-of-jail cards.
The Page of Swords is an opportunity, a rite of passage. It is an outstretched hand, but one that you must grasp firmly.
It is a double struggle. One struggle is with your routines and preconceptions, and another with the external world that wants to preserve the status quo.
You need to accept change and push for it. You need to tear down the mental barriers that hold you prisoner.
The Page of Swords must want to be free.
