Currently, you can purchase a copy of the Rider-Waite deck from one of the popular reseller websites, such as Amazon, for about $20. However, you can get it from various Chinese shopping sites for less than $8. As long as someone designs their own back panel, publishing the Rider-Waite deck is perfectly legal, since Pamela Colman Smith’s original drawings are in the public domain.
Over the past 50 years, mainly thanks to Stuart R. Kaplan, founder of U.S. Games Systems, Inc., Tarot has become commonplace. Anyone can get a deck of cards, and anyone can become a Tarot reader overnight without study and preparation.
I have repeatedly expressed my opinion that the Rider-Waite deck was one of many efforts by Mr Waite to profit from the occult, and that it lacks genuine esoteric content. Being probably the most popular deck used for divination doesn’t make it esoteric by any means.
I gathered many arguments to support my opinion, and eventually, I will complete a comprehensive book on the deck and all these aspects. I am aware that my opinions are severely damaging to the entire Tarot publishing industry and to most of the authors who have thrived by recreating or reinterpreting the Rider-Waite deck.
The Unified Esoteric Tarot is now in its third edition, with 47 copies remaining out of a limited edition of 78. Each copy is individually printed on demand and costs $124.99, shipping included for the United States. It’s an intentionally prohibitive fee.
The price isn’t driven by greed; it’s a way to select customers. Once again, “esoteric” refers to knowledge or practices that are intended for or understood by only a small group of people. I want to believe that when someone chooses to purchase the Unified Esoteric Tarot, they are prepared to embark on a learning and personal development journey; it is a commitment.
The Unified Esoteric Tarot provides an alternative to traditional esoteric standards, particularly the system of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. I have found the Ptolemaic Western Astrology, on which the Golden Dawn system is based, faulty. Thus, the Unified Esoteric System offers a deck based on a revised interpretation of Astrology, Numerology, Alchemy, and Kabbalah, providing a radically improved divination tool. My focus was accuracy and efficiency.
Besides the deck, I self-published on the Lulu platform a general introductory manual titled “Introducing the Unified Esoteric System and Tarot.” As the title suggests, the book offers a brief introduction to the Tarot through its four primary pillars: Astrology, Numerology, Alchemy, and Kabbalah, with additional references to Gurdjieff’s so-called Fourth Way. A large, extended manual is being written.
However, one of the best ways to get accustomed to the system and deck is through my daily three-card readings. Although these are so-called “general” or “untargeted” readings, meaning that they do not answer a particular question,

Most visibly, I replaced the photos with the extracted cards with digitally created images. I will pull the cards manually as I always did, but instead of taking a picture with a photo camera, downloading the file, and editing it, I will create the image on my computer. It is not only a better aesthetic choice but also a matter of efficiency (and saving time).

The three-card readings are not about divination or predicting the future.
It’s more of a learning tool, and what Gurdjieff called “alarm clock.”
While these readings may offer you daily clues and guidance, and provide original insight into the cards and esoteric matters, they also serve as alarm clocks and daily wake-up calls.
Incorporating these readings into your daily routine will be a daily source of information and inspiration, but also provide you with a platform to connect with other like-minded people. I intend to build a genuinely spiritual community, and together we can work toward a better future.
