However, you can get it from various Chinese shopping sites for less than $8. As long as someone designs their own back panel, publishing the Rider-Waite deck is perfectly legal, since Pamela Colman Smith’s original drawings are in the public domain.
Over the past 50 years, mainly thanks to Stuart R. Kaplan, founder of U.S. Games Systems, Inc., Tarot has become commonplace. Anyone can get a deck of cards, and anyone can become a Tarot reader overnight without study and preparation.
