– What should you focus on today?
– Why do you accept to be abused?

Most often, it is not the abuse by itself that is the worst, but the perpetuation and permanentisation of the abuse. What makes it worse is that we accept it and get used to it until it becomes normal and standard. It turns into the “better evil we know”.
Sometimes, depending on the surrounding cards, the question and the circumstance, the reversed Five of Wands can signify that we are the abusers.
However, we should generally consider the energies of each card channel. That is the primary reference for where it comes from and where it goes.
Cardinal cards represent the masculine, so-called passive, but more accurately, reactive energy.
It means that we are at the receiver end of things, so, most likely, the victims of the abuses.
From these three card readings, it is difficult to draw any reasonable conclusion regarding the nature and duration of the abuse. That would require a more thorough and dedicated reading.
However, the circumstances revealed by the surrounding cards suggest a quite gloomy picture.
One would wonder why, as the Hermit and the Three of Cups are “nice” cards.
The issue is that both the Hermit and the Three of Cups are cards related to the psyche. Therefore, the abuse seems to be emotional. Moreover, the cards, especially the Three of Cups, suggest the case of Stockholm Syndrome.
Stockholm Syndrome is a psychological phenomenon in which hostages or victims of abuse develop a bond or emotional attachment to their captors or abusers. The term originated in 1973 following a bank robbery in Stockholm, Sweden, during which hostages surprisingly defended their captors after being held for six days. This counterintuitive behaviour puzzled psychologists and the public alike, prompting further investigation into the survival mechanisms of the human mind.
The syndrome is not officially recognised as a mental disorder but is viewed as a coping mechanism. When confronted with extreme stress or fear, some individuals unconsciously seek to placate their captors in an attempt to avoid harm. Over time, appreciation for small acts of kindness, such as being fed or not being harmed, can develop into genuine empathy or loyalty.
Though commonly linked to hostage situations, Stockholm Syndrome can also arise in various abusive relationships, such as domestic abuse and human trafficking. It underscores the intricate interplay between fear, dependency, and emotional connection.
Therefore, you should look at yourself and identify the abuse and how these cards translate into your actual situation.
